Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 1% of patients undergoing general surgery procedures. Predictors of AKI for patients undergoing cardiac surgery are related to poor cardiac performance and advanced atherosclerotic disease. Post-infrarenal clamping has an incidence of AKI of 5% versus 13% for post-suprarenal clamping.
